BOCA RATON FIRE STATION 3

Boca Raton Fire Station No. 3 was a unique project because of its beachfront location, east of the Coastal Construction Line. The original station on that site was to be demolished, and in order to build in the same place, we sought and obtained a waiver from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The station was required to have frangible (break-away) first-story walls that would fall apart during a storm surge without harming the building above. Floors 2 and 3 were built above the storm surge, safe from flooding, and held all electrical and communications equipment.
