Plantation Key Courthouse and Detention Facility – Currie Sowards Aguila Architects Leaves a Lasting Impression on the FL Keys

The firm has called Monroe County an esteemed client since the mid 1980’s delivering a myriad of projects from fire stations to the Murray E. Nelson Government Center and the Freeman Justice Center.

Our most recent commission is the replacement of a tired and dated judicial complex with a new state-of-the-art, code compliant facility that will properly serve the judicial community well into the future.  This new judicial campus will be designed with all of the latest required safety and security measures and in full accordance with the current edition of the U.S. Courts Design Guidelines as prepared for the Judicial Conference of the U.S. With a project budget of $24 M, the building program includes a 48,240SF expansion to the existing 32,825 SF complex and will address improvements and expansion to court facilities including courtrooms, clerk of the courts offices and State Attorney’s office, common areas, services buildings, detention center, social services, a senior center and children’s shelter.
